This tower, set to have significant impact on the La Défense skyline, has a curved north façade which complements the rounded form of the surrounding buildings.
Finite element analyses of the cores, floors and perimeter beams were used during the preliminary design to establish the dynamic response of the structure. Wind tunnel testing of the building by the CSTB permitted a valid loading model to be adopted from the outset of the design. The flexible modelling approach meant that changes to the core geometry, the inclusion or removal of down stands linking the various cores could be rapidly and effectively assessed, providing a robust structural scheme.
