Building consisting of a composite timber/concrete structure. The choice of the timber option was dictated by the very tight construction schedule, as well as by the desire to reduce the operation’s carbon footprint. The floor on the ground storey and the ground-storey elevation of the day nursery unit are constructed of reinforced concrete. The remainder of the ground storey is constructed with a composite metal/timber structure with a dry screed system laid on a Kerto panel supported by timber joists resting on metal primary beams at 3.70 m centres. The entire upper storey is constructed with a composite metal/timber frame with a zinc roofcovering on roof boards.
